This policy explains how Oupla (ABN 73 181 075 831) collects, uses and looks after personal information. It’s written in plain English. If anything is unclear, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
1. Who we are
We build custom apps for Australian businesses — from maintenance and asset management systems for manufacturers to apps built from scratch around how a business works. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Oupla, and “you” means anyone whose personal information we handle — website visitors, people who contact us, and the staff of businesses we work with.
2. What we collect
We only collect what we need. Depending on how you deal with us, that can include:
- Contact details — your name, email address, phone number and company, when you use our enquiry form or email us.
- What you tell us — the content of your messages and any files you send, such as spreadsheets.
- Business data in systems we build — asset registers, maintenance records, and the names of staff who use or appear in them.
- Website usage information — collected automatically by our website platform, such as pages visited and browser type. See section 7.
3. How we collect it
Mostly directly from you — through our enquiry form, by email, on calls, or when you send us data to build your system. When we reach out to businesses, we may also use publicly available business details, such as company websites and LinkedIn profiles. We don’t buy personal information.
4. How we use it
- To reply to enquiries and prepare quotes.
- To build, deliver and support the systems you engage us for.
- To send invoices and keep business records.
- To improve this website.
We won’t use your information for anything unrelated without asking first, and we don’t sell it.
5. Client data in the systems we build
When you engage us, you stay in control of your business data. We access it only to build, test and support your system, as set out in our terms of engagement. Client systems are hosted on Supabase, with data stored in its Sydney, Australia data centre unless your proposal says otherwise. Each client’s data is kept in its own separate project.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only as much as they need:
- Shopify, which hosts this website and delivers enquiry-form messages.
- Supabase, which hosts the client systems we build.
- Zoho Mail, which handles our business email.
- Our accountant or bookkeeping tools, only where billing details are needed for tax and record-keeping.
Some of these providers may store or process data outside Australia — for example, Shopify may store website and enquiry-form data on overseas servers. Each provider’s own privacy policy explains where and how.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
7. Cookies and website analytics
This website runs on Shopify, which uses cookies to keep the site working and to report basic visitor statistics. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work, though some features may not. We don’t use any other analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
8. Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, including access controls on client systems. We keep enquiry emails for up to two years, and client data only for as long as we’re building or supporting your system. When an engagement ends, we hand your data back on request, as set out in our terms, and then delete our copies.
9. Accessing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below and we’ll respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days.
10. Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. If you’re still not satisfied, you may be able to complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
11. Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if the way we handle information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
